Metal Fabrication Grinder / Shop Labourer
Metal Fabrication Grinder / Shop Labourer based in Langley, BC. This full-time, on-site day-shift role starts at $24.00/hour with full benefits after 3 months. The main focus is grinding, deburring, part finishing, shop support, and learning how a modern sheet-metal fabrication floor works.
Primary Focus
- Grinding, deburring, sanding, and finishing metal parts
- Cleaning edges, welds, tabs, and laser-cut parts to shop standards
- Supporting fabricators by staging parts, moving material, and keeping work flowing
- Keeping work areas clean, organized, safe, and ready for the next operation
- Following work orders, photos, checklists, and instructions accurately
Why This Role Exists
We need a reliable grinder/shop support person who can make parts look right, keep the shop moving, and become more useful over time. This is not a sit-down office job and it is not a casual labour posting. The right person is steady, careful, punctual, and comfortable doing physical shop work every day.

Basic quality checks and inspection routines
Digital work-order, photo, checklist, and shop automation support
Other fabrication roles with in-house training

- Pay raises are based on demonstrated skill, reliability, safety habits, finishing quality, and expanded capability
- Strong candidates with relevant shop/grinding experience may be reviewed for faster progression after proving fit

What You'll Do
- Grind, deburr, sand, and finish metal parts after cutting, welding, and fabrication
- Remove sharp edges, tabs, burrs, weld spatter, and surface marks as directed
- Move parts between stations and stage material for laser, brake press, welding, assembly, and shipping
- Package parts and help prepare orders for shipping or pickup
- Assist with shop organization, tool storage, sweeping, and safe walkways
- Use PPE properly and follow grinder, dust, noise, and material-handling safety procedures
- Ask questions when a part, finish, drawing, or instruction is unclear

- Reliable and punctual—shows up on time, every time
- Comfortable with repetitive, physical grinding and finishing work
- Careful with details; understands that finish quality matters
- Easy to work with—respectful, calm, and able to take direction
- Physically capable: standing most of the shift, regular lifting, and steady movement
- Able to follow written/photo instructions and use a phone, tablet, or computer when needed
- Curious enough to learn how the equipment and workflow fit together
Nice to Have
- Grinding, deburring, polishing, fabrication, construction, warehouse, automotive, or hands-on trade experience
- Familiarity with angle grinders, flap discs, deburring tools, sanders, drills, measuring tools, or pallet jacks
- Forklift ticket or interest in learning safe material handling
- Comfort with basic computer/tablet checklists, photos, files, or work orders
- Interest in growing into more technical shop support over time
